1307 Rebert Pike,
Shire Bloodhounds is located in Springfield, OH (20 minutes East of Dayton, OH). The Family owned and operated bloodhound breeder has eight and half acres of majestic land dedicated to the breed. Our mission is to spread the love of the Bloodhound breed through education, quality breeding and trustworthy business practices. All of our AKC
registered puppies receive their first set of shots, are de-wormed, and come with a health guarantee. Our non-registered hounds receive their first set of shots and are de-wormed, a health certificate can be provided for an additional fee.
We at Shire Bloodhounds believe that one good turn deserves another this is why out of every litter we donate one puppy to the Purebred Rescue Organization of Ohio, Inc .
This rescue organization works with Francis Kennels K9 Academy
in training puppies and provides dogs to search and rescue or law enforcement agencies were needed. This is just a small way we contribute to a safer world.
Shire Bloodhounds sells non-AKC-registered bloodhounds due to a pure happenstance, we came across the smartest male we have ever seen (Finnegan)
. Finnegan is the grandson of an FBI tracking hound and for some reason his mother was never registered. All, and we mean all, of Finnegan's off spring that have applied for any kind of training have all been accepted and completed with high marks. One example is Aid'n
who has completed a rigorous training program and is waiting to be placed with a search and rescue or law enforcement agency.

Aid'n is doing so well! He will certify very soon. I have a picture I will forward to you of him taken yesterday, playing tug o war with a new foster dog that came in Saturday. He is remarkable and all of the SAR [Search and Rescue] trainers are extremely impressed!

Famous Bloodhounds - Pluto - (formerly known as Pluto the Pup) is an animated cartoon character made famous in a series of Disney short cartoons. He has most frequently appeared as Mickey Mouse's pet dog. He also had an independent starring role in a number of Disney shorts in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Pluto is unusual for a Disney character in that he is not anthropomorphized beyond showing an unusually broad range of facial expressions or use of his front paws at key points; he is actually represented as a normal dog (unlike Goofy who is an anthropomorphic dog).
Dear Dr. Person
We just wanted to say thank you so much for the bloodhound puppy we got two weeks ago. We named him Hazzard and he loves his new home. He already learned sit, lay, and shake.
Thanks for everything.
About Shire Bloodhounds
Congratulations on your new litter! I just wanted to send you some updated pictures of Carley the female pup of the 2 we purchased on December 19th. She was 3 lb. 4 oz. on her first vet visit and weighs around 18 to 20bs. now and is very healthy and active and gets along with the other 3 dogs and our poor cat. She is pretty much inseparable from our 20 month old Golden Retriever. We have had a couple of major snow storms this past month and she just loves it although we just got around 20" and we had to shovel a runway for her as it was over her head.
Bo, the male, is also doing fine ... He is getting extremely big … his new owner has told us...
Well thank you for the great pup and good luck with the new pups,
Joe and Mari Martin
Ps. Everyone that has seen her has been taking pictures and commenting what a great puppy she is.
I thought I would update you on Lainey Dayton of the Shire. We have been in training for SAR [ Search and Rescue] since April 2010. She is doing great, She will be tested for her first certfication, with her trainer, in two weeks. She will be tested with the state when her trainers think she's ready. Lainey is affectionate & lovers her step sister (Black Lab). Lainey loves to swim & she now drools.
Lainey loves Oregon. She plays at a lake, in the dunes, trains & plays in the woods & lives in a small city.
Her friends are labs, bloodhounds and an Akita.
I hope you enjoy her pictures & the article.
I thought that you might enjoy to hear how the puppy we purchased in August is doing. We named him Copper, and we love him very much! He is very smart, spoiled rotten and loves to play, especially with his "brothers" (1 dog, a cat, and a kitten). He never leaves the side of his big brother, our two year old blue-tick mix. They are always getting into trouble together! He sure has a mind of his own, but he's alot of fun! I would like to thank you for giving us a wonderful dog. He is a very big part of our lives!
This is Rae I bought a puppy off of you last summer he was super chubby and had a mark on his paw. Just an email to let you know that the mark has now grown in with hair and he is healthly and happy. He's so tall and about a 120lbs. Still growing and what a mama's boy! Love him dearly and still so very happy with him. I have attached a recent picture hope you enjoy it.
